Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf Club
Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah opened in 1992 on the northern side of Shah Alam and is named after the Sultan of Selangor who reigned at the time. Australian five-time Open champion Peter Thomson designed its 27 holes as three nine-hole loops called President, Sultan and Alam Shah. The Sultan and Alam Shah nines together form the 18-hole, par-72 championship layout of just over 7,000 yards, which is normally used for major competitions. The undulating parkland course has lakes and extensive tree planting, along with typical Thomson features such as pot bunkers, rolling fairways and raised greens. The best-known hole is the par-5 'Dragon Hole', the 2nd on the Sultan nine, which needs a carry over a creek to an elevated green. The club bills itself as the 'Home of Night Golfing' because all 27 holes are floodlit, and it has a driving range, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a fitness centre with sauna and several restaurants. Good to know: Buggies on cart paths only.
