The Royal Chiangmai Golf Resort lies about 26 km north of Chiang Mai along the Chiang Mai-Prao road, in San Sai district. The 18-hole par-72 course is credited to Peter Thomson, the five-time Open champion. It is a heavily tree-lined parkland layout with some links-style touches, water in play on almost every hole and thick rough. Listed length is around 7,200 yards from the back tees. The club offers caddies and carts, practice facilities, dining, locker rooms and a golf shop.
