Penang Golf Club

Penang Golf Club, previously known as Bukit Jambul Country Club, sits on Penang island near Bayan Lepas, a short drive from the airport. It was laid out on a former hilly, jungle-covered site and is generally described as a tight, undulating parkland course lined with trees. Design is credited to Robert Trent Jones Jr., and many of the bunkers are tucked away with grassy faces, so accuracy matters more than length. The 10th, a par four that falls steeply from an elevated tee, is often cited as the signature hole, and the course hosted the 1992 Malaysian Open. Views over the island, Penang Bridge and surrounding jungle appear on several holes. The clubhouse offers dining, a driving range, practice areas, a golf academy, plus pool and squash facilities. Good to know: No rain checks. Sunday from 1:30pm RM320. Buggies allowed on fairways (subject to club and weather).
