Navatanee Golf Course
Navatanee Golf Course is in north-east Bangkok near the Outer Ring Road and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., opening in 1973 on former rice fields as Thailand's first championship-standard course. It was chosen to host the 1975 World Cup of Golf, won by the United States, and later staged the Thailand Open in 1999. The tree-lined parkland course is mostly flat, with less water than many Bangkok layouts and bunkers as the main defence. Jones is said to have modified it in 1997. Notable holes include the water-hugging par-5 9th and the 445-yard par-4 6th with water along the left and in front of the green. It plays about 6,902 yards, and facilities include a clubhouse restaurant overlooking the 9th, a putting green and changing rooms, but no driving range.
