Lake Malaren Golf Club
Lake Malaren is a 36-hole club in the northern suburbs of Shanghai, in Baoshan District, on gently rolling and fairly flat ground that is easy to walk. The Masters Course, a Jack Nicklaus II redesign of the earlier Lake layout, plays over open parkland with a links-style feel, wide sandy waste areas, lakes and longer fescue on low mounds. Its length of about 7,500 yards from the back tees and its large bunkers make it a test for strong players, and it has hosted the European Tour's BMW Masters, including in 2012 and 2013. The Forest Course, originally laid out by Peter Thomson, is a tree-lined par 72 and is the one more open to visiting golfers. The club has a golf academy, caddies, floodlit play and an adjoining Crowne Plaza hotel that offers stay-and-play packages.
