One of the country's oldest golf clubs, Royal Perak Golf Club (RPGC) has a history that dates back to the turn of the 19th century when the nine-hole Ipoh Golf Club was built at the Perak Turf Club. The club moved to its current site between Tiger Lane and Gunung Rapat in 1932.
Over the years, RPGC's par 72, 6,376-metre layout has hosted many prestigious tournaments including the Malaysian Open in 1974 and 1990. The course is built on a flat terrain but still provides an invigorating challenge with its tree-lined fairways and stunning views of the surrounding hills.
The club was converted into a proprietary club in 2007, managed by a subsidiary of the corporate arm of the Perak state government. A new, 120,000-square foot clubhouse opened in August 2009 and the course was upgraded with all its bunkers and greens rebuilt by Australian architect Nigel Douglas
Walk-in visitors have to pay green fees of RM180+ on weekdays and RM250+ on weekends. Buggies and caddies are avallable.
